My work focusses on tableware objects that are user-friendly and reinstate the connection between maker and user. Enhancing our daily rituals and connecting us with handmade traditions.

“It’s a love affair. Start with one piece as a customer and you’ll end up with a set”.

About me…

Pattie Murray is an Australian ceramicist who creates delicate and intricate tableware, and buttons. She uses traditional techniques of throwing and hand-building. Her works are eye-catching and beautiful to hold and use, blending beauty, form and functionality.

Murray recently moved to Witta on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia to work fulltime as an artist. She is building a studio she hopes to share with the public. In the meantime, she is continuing to create her nature-inspired artworks featuring native Australian flora as inspiration.

Murray’s work focusses on tableware objects that are user-friendly and reinstate the connection between maker and user. Her work is all about enhancing our daily rituals whether they are singular or shared by connecting us with handmade traditions.

Murray first began with clay in 1997 and completed her Diploma of Visual Arts in 2008. Over this period, developing her own aesthetic style. In 2008, she transitioned from stoneware clay to Australian Southern Ice porcelain for its texture and translucency. Her work is held in private collections throughout Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom and Europe.

With a love of reading, learning and exploring the Australian landscape, she is currently completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of Southern Queensland.
